My
presentation is based on the Handbook4 issued in 2018 in the Saint Petersburg
State University by Prof. Marina Kotova and Anna Kolpakova O’Byrne. The handbook contains approx. 450
items. Proverbial pairs with different images (according to the definitions given by Outi Lauhakangas in her book «The Matti Kuusi international type system of proverbs»: «the similar human idea in a different
guise» and «proverbs using different images but having the same idea») are the most interesting material, representing
a wide variety of solutions to express the same teaching or wisdom by special
linguistic and contextual solutions.
Hungarikum
is a term of Hungarian origin designating a set of tangible and intangible
objects. It is a kind of tourist concept that emphasises the typical character
of Hungarian culture by adding value to specific products. I used this term to
present the proverbs containing exclusive phenomena of the Hungarian history,
habits and social reality.
