In fifty years, TOEFL has grown to worldwide acceptance as one of the main standards of knowledge of the English language. English in Russia is mainly taught using British English. How is TOEFL heard by an American grader? There are many variations of pronunciation in North America. This presenter is from the heart of the Midwestern states which are known to have neutrality in speech. Clarity of speech is important in all stages of speaking. Teaching speaking involves more than memorization and book knowledge. Clarification is needed to excel at TOEFL. Being prepared and using the most modern tools of our trade are essential for teaching in the 21st century.
